About Lessons

I teach from my comfortable and conducive home studio in Tai Keng Gardens, where students learn on my Yamaha YUS5 upright “grand.” For more advanced or serious learners, lessons are taught from my Boston GP193 grand piano. Students also have access to a wide collection of musical scores and learning resources in my studio. I hold compulsory annual student recitals — because music, like food, is best enjoyed when prepared then shared!

I screen my students carefully to ensure I can truly add value to their musical journey and foster a meaningful teaching–learning relationship. I’m highly personable and deeply care for my students as individuals. Once accepted, I do my best to nurture and guide them with the long run in mind.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs and learning pace — if you practice and progress more, I’ll teach you more! I pay special attention to the more serious and talented students, and work closely with parents to help them reach their fullest potential.

While I prepare students for examinations and assessments, my ultimate goal is for each student to develop their own story and relationship with the piano, and to grow a lifelong appreciation for music.

I believe in holistic learning, and place great importance on building a strong foundation, especially in the beginner years.
